Does your car sit still most days? Then you're paying every month for something that gives nothing back. Through sharing platforms you rent it out by the hour or day to people nearby.

What it pays

• An average car brings in €100-300 a month on a sharing platform, depending on your area and how often you need it yourself.
• Fixed costs (insurance, tax, depreciation) run anyway — every rented day offsets them.
• Platforms arrange insurance during the rental; still check your own policy and the damage terms.

Check first

• Lease or financed car? Renting out is usually not allowed — read your contract.
• Parking permit or charger? Useful for renters, and a reason to charge more.
• Are you OK with others driving your car? Small traces of use come with it; big damage is covered but is hassle.

Not a structural goldmine, but a decent offset of your fixed car costs — and for idle metal, every euro is profit.
